Selection criteria
National Bank Financial Group gives priority to sponsorships that correspond to its values and strategic objectives. We generally opt for events that are conducive to business development and offer:
- exclusivity in the banking sector
- great visibility for the Financial Group (beyond having our logo displayed)
- opportunity for organizing an assortment of activities for clients and employees at the event
- outreach to a vast community, especially in our core target group, e.g., people aged 35 to 54 and families

Management of sponsorships
Sponsorship applications must be examined on the basis of a strict, well-defined process, and that is why the Financial Group has developed a checklist that enables it to assess the relevance of each sponsorship in relation to its business objectives.

Allocation of sponsorships
The Bank takes the following into account when allocating sponsorships:
- Only one financial contribution to any one organization in a given year
- Sponsorships are not automatically renewed from one year to the next (unless there is a long-term agreement), and all new applications must be evaluated on their own merits
- The long-term viability of an event, how effectively it is managed, and the soundness of its financial management are also important aspects in allocating sponsorships

Sponsorships of amateur athletes
For many years now, National Bank Financial Group has not directly sponsored any amateur athletes. Since 1993, the Financial Group has been providing financial support to the Fondation de l’athlète d'excellence du Québec by creating the National Bank Bursaries program, the objective of which is to help young promising athletes rise to the top of their field and athletes at the end of their careers who want to return to school.
