Richard Dupuis receives the André-Bérard Award from National Bank
Montréal, 1 May 2008 -
National Bank is proud to recognize Richard Dupuis’s involvement in the community by selecting him to receive the 2007-2008 André-Bérard Award, the highest honour bestowed under the Bank’s volunteer program for current and retired employees.
Mr. Dupuis won the selection committee over with the extent of his involvement, the amount of time he devotes to volunteering, the importance of his efforts, and his drive. The award, presented as part of National Volunteer Week, includes a $5,000 donation from the Bank to the Dyson Moore Foundation.
Mr. Dupuis, a retired Bank employee, has been volunteering at the Dyson Moore Foundation, in Mascouche, for about 16 years. The organization’s mission is to ensure the continued development of the Dyson Moore ecological gardens. The Foundation, in conjunction with Human Resources Canada, also runs workplace integration projects for young people.
“I am happy to have succeeded the founder, Dyson Moore, and I am proud to continue his work,” said Mr. Dupuis. “He created the gardens to prove that ecological horticulture was possible if we work with nature. He was an environmental visionary who promoted reclamation and recycling long before it became a priority for so many people,” added Mr. Dupuis.
The André-Bérard Award, created in honour of André Bérard, a former National Bank Chairman known for his community involvement, recognizes the remarkable volunteer work done by current and former Bank employees. It is part of the Our hearts are with you recognition program, which supports employees’ volunteer activities, rewards their efforts and enhances the impact of their actions with financial contributions to the organizations that are dear to their hearts.
In 2007, the Bank and its subsidiaries, through corporate donations, sponsorships, in-branch fundraising activities and various benefit events, gave more than $20 million to hundreds of Canadian education, health care, cultural and community organizations.
