The André Bérard Volunteer Award presented to Jean-Marie Boudreau
Montreal, 22 April 2004 -
Each year, National Bank highlights the volunteer commitment of its employees by rewarding the most devoted among them. This year, National Bank presented the “André Bérard Volunteer Award” to Jean-Marie Boudreau, SME Manager in New Brunswick, for his ongoing commitment to the Accueil Sainte-Famille.
As part of the Award, National Bank was pleased to make a $5,000 donation to the Accueil Sainte-Famille, a shelter for battered women and children in the Acadian Peninsula region, where Mr. Boudreau has been volunteering for over eight years. “I am proud to help better the lives of these women and children who, thanks to the shelter, will have a brighter future,” said Mr. Boudreau. This donation will enable the organization to respond more fully to the specific needs of battered women and their children.
During Volunteer Action Week, from April 18 to 24, National Bank launched its community awareness campaign in the branches. Customized posters for each region clearly illustrate the Bank's involvement in the community by showing the various organizations it supports.
For several years, National Bank has been recognizing the remarkable volunteer work of its employees in their community. That is why, in 2002, it created the André Bérard Volunteer Award in tribute to the Bank's Chairman who was known for his exemplary commitment to the community over the years.
National Bank believes that it has a responsibility to help enhance the quality of life of the communities it serves and to actively participate in their social development. This is why it contributes close to $10 million every year in the form of donations and sponsorships to numerous organizations throughout Canada working in the areas of education, culture, health and community assistance.
