Recent appointments at National Bank Financial
Montreal, 1 December 2000 - National Bank Financial Group announces recent appointments in it's managing team. Mr Jean Turmel, President – Financial Markets, Treasury and Investment Bank at the National Bank, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of National Bank Financial. Mr Kym Anthony will hold the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of NBF, Mr Germain Carrière will serve as President and Chief Operating Officer, Individual Investors Services, and Mr David Wood has been appointed as Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of National Bank Financial
These appointments come one year after the merger of Lévesque Beaubien Geoffrion (LBG) and First Marathon – a year during which the two outgoing Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOs, Pierre Brunet and Lawrence Bloomberg, successfully oversaw the integration of these two firms into National Bank Financial.
"Contrary to what many expected," Mr. Turmel stated, "the integration of LBG and First Marathon into National Bank Financial went very smoothly and was a great success. The departure of the two Co-CEOs means only one thing: that they have done their job, which was to ensure a successful integration and the commercial success of the new entity. They more than met the challenges of their demanding mandate."
"As the integration process has been completed and National Bank Financial has shown itself to be a veritable force on financial markets during the past year" Jean Turmel added, "our focus now is to develop and grow our business. The fact that Mr. Bloomberg and Mr. Brunet will continue to serve National Bank Financial in an advisory capacity attests to the important role they both play in our corporate strategy."
